Maison Vidal-Fleury

Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury gained an international reputation very quickly. Thomas Jefferson's visit in 1787 was its first contact with the United States.
Description
A historic house in Côte-Rôtie, the Vidal-Fleury estate has stood the test of time. The passage of celebrities such as Thomas Jefferson in 1787 gave the estate a reputation that allowed it to develop commercial relations with the United States. In the 1890s, Gustave Vidal married a certain Miss Fleury; thanks to her dowry, he managed to replant the vineyard after the phylloxera crisis.
From the 1920s onwards, the company became interested in other growing lands in the Rhône Valley and extended its activities further south.
In the middle of the 20th century, Vidal-Fleury was one of the iconic production houses of Côte-Rôtie, and remains so today.
